Head of authority: Prof. Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili

Since March 2022, Prof. Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili has been elected as the President of the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia. She is a Professor of Legal Theories at the Faculty of Law of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) and a Visiting Professor at Barcelona Autonomous University. As a Visiting Professor, she has also given lectures at the University of Granada, the University of Santiago de Compostela, and the University of La Coruña in the frames of Erasmus Teaching mobility of the academic staff members. Prof. Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili holds a doctoral degree from the Faculty of Law of TSU, as well as, a doctoral degree in Human Security and Global Public Law, and carries an Extraordinary Doctoral Degree for an outstanding doctoral career from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

Since 2021, she has been a member of the Department of Human Security named after Prof. Manuel Ballbé of the Autonomous University Barcelona. Since 2011, she has been a researcher of the research group of the Institute of Social and Political Sciences of the Autonomous University of Barcelona: “Freedom, Democracy, and Transformation of States”. Since 2015, she has been coordinating the Inter-University network for the Study of the Constitutional Transformation of the States. She has been a principal supervisor of several scientific research projects and authored several scholarly papers.

The annual report of the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia regarding its activities is submitted to the Parliament of Georgia. Since March 2022, the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia has published 4-month, 6-month, and 9-month activity report.
